Security
Security is an extremely important benefit of high rise strata living and the safety and security of all Macleay Towers and Villa residents is of paramount importance. Access to the building is controlled by an electronic system and all residents are provided with a security swipe which only permits access to specific floors and to common areas. The Building manager is responsible for all aspects of security throughout the building, moving in/out activities and the management of security swipes.
Security is everyone’s business and we take your safety seriously. Please observe the following rules:
- If you see any unusual, suspicious or unacceptable behaviour please report it immediately. You can do this by contacting the building manager or filling out this INCIDENT REPORT and handing it in as soon as possible.
- Always ensure the door is properly closed behind you when entering or leaving the building.
- Do not give access to strangers. Visitors must make contact with the resident they are visiting for entry as this releases the lift access to that floor (and only that floor).
- If someone’s behaviour is aggressive or threatening please contact Dockside Security on: 0401 035 310
Fire Safety
Smoke detectors are located in common areas as well asall apartments and villas. These are linked to the building Fire Panel and when activated by smoke, the alarm will sound. The Qld Fire and Rescue Service (QFRS) is automatically alerted and will attend swiftly.
Fire Sprinklers are located in the ceiling of each room . These are very sensitive and should not be touched. YOU MUST NOT HANG ANYTHING FROM A SPRINKLER as they are linked to the main fire control system and if they are broken your apartment will be flooded with water and QFRS will automatically be called.
The fire alarm has 2 distinct tones. The first is the alert tone which changes after several seconds to the evacuation tone with instructions spoken in several different languages. Initially the fire alarm will sound only on the level of activation plus one(1) level below and two (2)levels above. Unless the QFRS arrive and determine it is a false alarm, after several minutes the alarm sound will expand up and down the building in a timed pattern until the entire building is in alarm. When you hear this alarm, you should evacuate the building immediately via the fire stairwell and gather at the designated Assembly Area. DO NOT USE THE LIFTS.
QFRS attend all alarms in the building and you will be responsible for any false alarm call out fees, which are significant.
