Macleay Social Activities – Join Us

QUARTERLY GET-TOGETHER
The quarterly social is generally held quarterly in the foyer area. Watch out for notices in the Lift. Please bring along your own drinks and nibbles to share, if you would like to join us.

CHRISTMAS PARTY
The Macleay Christmas party is usually held the first Saturday in December. All residents are welcome. Food and drink will all be provided.

CRAFT GROUP
The craft group meets in the Library every Thursday from 9:30am, for more info contact Grace 0405 727 967. Please join us.

HERB GARDEN
The herb garden is located in the visitors car park area. The herbs are there for all residents. The garden is maintained by a group of residents interested in the garden. They meet from time to time to discuss what is needed and develop a plan of action. If you would like to be involved with the ‘herbies’ who look after the garden, please let the Building Manager know.

INFORMATION EVENINGS
From time to time, the Body Corporate Committee holds Information Evenings to advise residents of what is happening, celebrate events, seek opinions of owners etc. The meetings are generally held in the Foyer or Library. Notices of the meetings are posted in the elevators.

2023 Christmas Party

There was great food and company at the  Macleay 2023 Christmas party. It was an opportunity to meet new faces and catch-up with the regulars while sharing drinks and canapes. A good time was had by all.  Jan again, did a great job organising the festivities.  Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Social Drinks September 2023

Another opportunity for Macleay residents to get together, chat, socialise and be part of the vertical village that is the Macleay. We introduced new residents and mingled with the regulars.

This is a great way to meet your neighbours so we hope to see you at the next one.

 

Happy 25th Birthday Events

Happy 25th Birthday Macleay

Macleay Tower and Villas turns 25 years young!! So, it’s residents and owners had a party to celebrate Macleay’s coming of age. Lots of fun was had and speeches made, reinforcing the great sense of community that exists within our wonderful Vertical Village, in the heart of Kangaroo Point. A key topic of conversation, particularly from the many long-term residents present, was how the Macleay and the Dockside area, was still a wonderful place to live, offering a truly urban lifestyle. A good time was had by one and all.

2022 Christmas Party

The Macleay 2022 Christmas party was an opportunity to meet new faces and catch-up with the regulars while sharing drinks and canapes. A good time was had by all.  It was also our new building caretaker, Ben and his family’s, first Christmas party with us – welcome to our vertical village!  Jan, Jude and their team did a great job organising and tending the bar.  Hopefully 2023 will see the resumption of our quarterly social get togethers on a regularly basis while we learn to live with the ‘new covid normal’.  Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Lift Modernisation Project – Villa Lift Replacements – Completed

The villa lift upgrades are scheduled to start at the end of May 2022. The existing hydraulic villa lifts will be replaced with totally new traction lifts. The interior of the villa lifts will be similar to the new tower lift design, except due to weight limitations the floor will be a deluxe dark carpet (similart to the carpet in the lift lobbies) instead of tiles.

The villa lift upgrades will take around 2 months each to complete and during this period, affected residents will need to use the stairs to access their apartments on the higher floors. During this period the security system will be modified to allow affected residents to use the alternative villa lift to access the basement from the ground floor to make things a little easier.

As you are aware the South Villa lift sustained damage during the recent flood and has not been operating since so this lift will be updated first followed by the North lift starting in August 2022.

Also as part of the project the upgrade team will need access to the two car spaces adjacent to the villa lift for equipment storage and to ensure there is no damage to cars during the upgrade. The owners of these affected spaces will be offered alternative space while the work is underway.
